Outsourcing
Background
A global hospitality company embarked on an evaluation of outsourcing vendors in order to outsource their IT Infrastructure and select business processes.
Challenge
The company consists of several major business units, one of which independently evaluated the parent company’s outsourcing options and determined that due diligence was required. Thus, the division evaluated numerous outsourcing vendors from their own business perspective, including Minneapolis based data center providers.
Solution Highlights
An Aeritae consultant led the effort to evaluate Minneapolis based data center providers.
These efforts included:
- The first phase involved working with company stakeholders to determine their outsourcing requirements and identify which criteria would be compared with the parent company’s outsource options.
- The second phase entailed identifying Minneapolis based data center providers with the capacity and experience to support an organization the size of the division. Once these were identified, these vendors were evaluated against an exhaustive series of criteria.
- The third phase consisted of highly detailed evaluations of those vendors that were determined to have the potential of serving their needs. This included on-site evaluations of the vendor’s data centers, capabilities, processes, and support services.
- The final phase entailed summarizing vendor’s capabilities, assigning weights to various criteria and conducting comparative evaluations against other outsourcing providers.
Results
Aeritae successfully evaluated a number of data centers for the division to compare against other national outsourcing vendors. This resulted in the division having the information they needed to determine how they could manage their outsourcing participation with the parent company. The division agreed to participate in the parent company’s outsourcing decision. The work conducted by Aeritae gave the division additional information needed to leverage lower costs for various services, saving them over $1M annually.
